Full Description
Two linear earthwork banks are visible on aerial photographs of Wyke Regis, taken in 1946 (1). They are of uncertain date and function. It is possible they are associated with the Weymouth and Portland Railway (circa 1865). Alternatively the railway may have cut the bank, suggesting a possibly earlier origin for this feature. This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). These banks are not visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial images available to the project.
