Full Description
Probable site of a Second World War coast artillery searchlight located on the Outer Breakwater of Portland Harbour. It is considered likely to have been constructed between 1940-41, in accordance with similar searchlights located on this breakwater (MWX1370-71).
This structure is visible on aerial photographs, situated within the middle section of Portland's Outer Breakwater (2-3). This feature was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). It is still visible at this location on the most recent comprehensive aerial images available to the project.
