Summary

A series of trackways criss-crossing fields to the west of Part Square Plantation are visible as earthworks and cropmarks on aerial photographs. These features are considered likely to be associated with Second World War military military activity in this area (see MDO30174), although an earlier, historic origin for some of these trackways cannot be ruled out either.

Full Description

A series of trackways criss-crossing fields to the west of Part Square Plantation are visible as earthworks and cropmarks on aerial photographs (1-3). These features are considered likely to be associated with Second World War military military activity in this area (see MDO30174), although an earlier, historic origin for some of these trackways cannot be ruled out either. They were digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
