A post medieval gravel pit is shown at this location on the 1st Edition OS Map (1). This pit is also visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs taken in 1945 (2). This feature was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project. It is not visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial imagery avavlable to the project.
