Three pits are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs of the northern end of Highwood Heath (1-2). They are considered likely to be the remains of post medieval extractive pits, although there is potential that some may have earlier, medieval or prehistoric origins. These features were digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
