Full Description
A possible modern military earthwork, is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of 1979, on Tonerspuddle Heath and Chamberlayne's Heath, within the Tank Training Area of Bovington Camp. The date of the earthwork is unclear, but may be post 1945. The earthworks may be military tracks and comprise: a partial, sub-rectangular enclosure formed of a linear ditch with an external bank along part of its length; a curvilinear ditch with an associated bank within the enclosure; and three short, outlying sections of banks and ditch immediately to the northwest of the enclosure. The earthworks are visible over an area measuring approximately 325 m by 280 m. (1) These features were digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
