Monument record MDO3158 - Bowl barrow in the Ridge Hill group, Winterborne St Martin

Site of a Bronze Age barrow, part of a larger barrow cemetery extending along the Dorset Ridgeway. Also visible as circular earthwork mound on aerial photographs.

(Centred SY 643867) Three round barrows - 'B'. Ditched bowl barrow 77 feet in diameter by 11 ½ feet high. Ditch about 15 feet wide. North to south excavation trench through centre. A bank and ditch (see SY 68 NW) run up to it from the north. <1> <3>

'B' SY 64288674. Bowl barrow, 24.0m. North-south by 22.0m east- west, height 4.0m. No visible ditch. Not ploughed. Re-surveyed at 1:2500 on M.S.D. <4>

Site of a Bronze Age barrow, one of a group of three barrows (MDO357-59) and part of a larger barrow cemetery extending along the Dorset Ridgeway.

Also visible as circular earthwork mound on aerial photographs <6-9>, measuring approximately 23.5 metres in diameter. This site was digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.
