Full Description
A small extractive pit or quarry is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs on the south side of Povington Hill rough midway between Maiden's Grave and Lawford Sheard Gates (1). It is considered likely to be a post medieval chalk pit. The site is no longer visible on recent Google Earth imagery and may have been levelled; it was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
