A 'Chalk Pit' is marked at this location on the OS 1st edition map, it is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs on Whiteway Hill (1). The site is still visible as an extant earthwork on recent Google Earth imagery; it was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
