A small extractive pit is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1946 on Whiteway Hill. It is considered likely to be a post medieval chalk pit, the underlying geology being chalk (1). The feature is not visible on recent Google Earth imagery; it was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
