A small post medieval extractive pit or quarry is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs to the east of Tyneham village (1). The underlying geology is mudstone. The site is still visible as an extant earrthwork on recent Google Earth imagery. It was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
