Full Description
'A'. Bowl barrow on Great Hill, the next spur to east of Shorn Hill. Diam 74ft, ht 9ft. Disturbed, with Ancient Field Group (SY 68 NW 37). <3>
'A' SY 63908703. Bowl barrow, diameter 24.0m., height 2.4m., in good condition. No visible ditch.
Neither barrow has been ploughed over. Re-surveyed at 1:2500 on M.S.D. <4>
Site of a Bronze Age bowl barrow, one of a group of two barrows (MDO3179-80) and part of a larger barrow cemetery extending along the Dorset Ridgeway.
Also visible as a circular earthwork mound on aerial photographs <6-9>, measuring approximately 22.2 metres in diameter. This site was digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.
