Full Description

'B'. Bowl barrow on crest of north east slope of Great Hill 270 yds north east of 'A'. Diam 55 ft, ht 5 ft. <1> <3>

'B' SY 64088721. Bowl barrow, diameter 18.0m., height 2.0m., flat top of 5.0m. diameter. No visible ditch.

Neither barrow has been ploughed over. Re-surveyed at 1:2500 on M.S.D. <4>

Site of a Bronze Age barrow, one of a group of two barrows (MDO3179-80) and part of a larger barrow cemetery extending along the Dorset Ridgeway.
Also visible as circular earthwork mound on aerial photographs <6-10>, measuring approximately 22 metres in diameter. This site was digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.

Diameter 18.0m, ht. 1.0m. It has a flat top 5.0m in diameter. Damage limited to 2 areas of cattle erosion. The field appears rarely to have been ploughed and then not to any great depth. 1/2/B
