Full Description

(Centred SY 648874) Tumuli [NR] (three times). (1)

Ten barrows including a pound barrow ('F') and a quadruple bell barrow ('K'), form an irregular linear cemetery orientated roughly North West to South East on top of the second spur east of Shorn Hill. 'K' is unique in England. 'A', 'C', 'D' and 'F' were excavated by St George Gray and Prideaux in 1902.

'E' Bowl (?) (64688743) on West Slope 100 yds West South West of 'D'. Small, ploughed almost flat. (2,3)

'E'. No trace remains. Re-surveyed at 1:2500 on M.S.D.

(SY64828728; 64828720; 64818712) The cropmarks of three probable barrows on Crawford air photograph, could not be traced in arable field. (4)

Site of a bowl barrow, part of the Eweleaze Barn barrow group. Grinsell measured the mound at 7 paces diameter and 1 foot high, while RCHME merely described it as "small, ploughed almost flat". In 1980, the Ordnance Survey found no surviving surface trace. This barrow was originally recorded as part of SY 68 NW 56. That record should be consulted for additional sources and information. <1-2>

A possible Early Bronze Age bowl barrow, part of a linear barrow cemetery comprising bowl barrows, a pond barrow, and a quadruple bell barrow (MDO3183-91).
