Full Description
Two linear areas of probable post medieval or modern open cast extraction are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1940s to the east of Moreton Pit, Crossways. The earthworks consist of two linear extractive pits, flanked by banks of spoil, measuring up to 113 m in length. (1-2) The pits are not visible as earthworks on recent aerial photography. (3) This site was digitally plotted as part of the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
