Full Description
A stony mound on the highest point of ground below the main ridge of Bronkham Hill. Diameter 24.0m. approximately and height 0.2 to 0.7m. In arable. No visible ditch. Almost certainly a ploughed-down bowl barrow. Discovered during field investigation. Surveyed at 1:2500 on MSD.
Approximately 30 metres south-east is a stony spread 11.0m. in diameter which may be the site of a ploughed down barrow. <1>
Also visible as an earthwork mound on aerial photographs <2-3>, measuring approximately 19.2 metres in diameter. An outer ditch is also visible as a cropark, 2 meters in width and seperated from the mound by a berm, suggesting it could instead be a bell barrow. This site was digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.
