Summary

Plough levelled remains of a Bronze Age round barrow. Well defined as a circular annular cropmark. The site is defined by a single ring ditch which encloses a circular area measuring 15m in diameter. Total diameter circa 18m. There is no sign of any barrow mound or other internal feature such as a funerary deposit.

Full Description

A probable Bronze Age round barrow is visible as a soilmark on aerial photographs. The site is centred at ST 9424 1037 and is defined by a single ring ditch which encloses a circular area measuring 15m in diameter. It is probably the plough levelled remains of a Bronze Age round barrow, several of which are known in this area. The barrow is situated 12m west of the round barrow recorded as ST 91 SW 135 (UID: 1481295 / MDO32821) and should probably be considered one of a pair. There is no sign of any barrow mound or other internal feature such as a funerary deposit. <1>

Plough levelled round barrow well defined as a circular annular cropmark c 14m in diameter on aerial photographs dated 2005. No evidence for bank material or internal features could be discerned.

The feature is also visible as a faint circular annular cropmark c 18m in diameter on an aerial photograph dated 1982 <1> and was digitally plotted from this source during the Dorset Middle Stour AI&M project.
