Full Description

The OS 1st edn 25in map (1892) (1) shows a Methodist chapel on a site on the N side of Fortuneswell, Isle of Portland. The map shows a burial ground immediately adjacent to the E and a building set in an apparently formal garden at the rear (N) of the plot marked 'Wesley Manse'. The 2nd edn map (1903) (2) shows the manse extended or replaced by a structure marked as a Wesleyan Methodist chapel. The 3rd edn map (1929) (3) shows a structure with a different footprint on the site of the original chapel. The OS 5th edn map (4) marks this as 'Manse'.
