Summary

Site of a possible Bronze Age bowl barrow. Recorded as an extant mound by RCHM, and noted as being much disturbed. Field investigations in 1980 reported the barrow as being severely mutilated, the south-western part of it having been robbed or destroyed so that it now forms a roughly crescent shape. Also visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs.

SY 62348896. Bowl barrow on south-east slope, about 80 ft diameter and 5 ft high. Much damaged. <1> <3>

SY 62348895. A severely mutilated bowl barrow, the south-western part of it having been robbed or destroyed so that it now forms a roughly crescent shape. Original diameter 21.0m. Height 2.0m. No visible ditch. In arable, but not ploughed over. Re-surveyed at 1:2500 on MSD. <4>

Also visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs <6-8>, measuring approximately 18 metres in diameter. This site was digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.

Diameter 21.0m, ht. 2.0m. No visible ditch. In arable field but barrow grassed over. The perimeter had been steepened by ploughing particularly on the E and N. On the E it has been badly mutilated and dug away. 1/3/D
