‘COIN HOARD FROM WRAXALL. A hoard of eighty-two silver coins was the subject of a Coroner’s Treasure Trove Inquest held on 29 September 1988: the jury declared them Treasure Trove. The coins were found in May 1988 by Mr. R. Burton, in a field called Henningmead, near Sandhills, Wraxall. Of Elizabeth I there were fifteen sixpences of the Second Issue (1561-82), ten of the Third Issue (1583-1603), and one unidentified sixpence. There were also four shillings of the First Issue (1558-61), and seven of the Third. Sixpences of James I (1603-25) were represented by two of the First Issue (1603-4), one of the Second (1604-19), and one of the Third (1619-25); shillings by one of the First Issue, seven of the Second, and two of the Third. There were also three sixpences of Charles I (1625-49), and twenty shillings; of Charles II (1660-85) four crowns and four half-crowns.’
