Monument record MDO3597 - Medieval holloway, Blandford St Mary

A holloway is visible as an earthwork and field boundaries, continuing the line of Church Lane, Blandford St Mary, to the west, on the south side of Lower Blandford St Mary Manor House. The holloway was the main east-west route through Blandford St Mary in the medieval period and pre-dates the turnpike construction of the present Bournemouth Road.

A holloway is visible as an earthwork and field boundaries,continuing the line of Church Lane, Blandford St Mary, to the west, on the south side of Lower Blandford St Mary Manor House. The holloway marks the medieval main E-W route through Blandford St Mary and pre-dates the construction of the present Bournemouth Road [1][2].

This road was closed, and the current Bournemouth Road opened, in 1846 [3].
