One of a group of pits in an alignment on the crest of a ridge, and interpreted as forming the northern boundary of an early Iron Age settlement.

Full Description

Pit 7341. A roughly circular pit around 1m in diameter and 0.48m deep with straight sides and a flat base. The single fill of the pit was compacted dark brown clayey silt, containing limestone rubble, some of which was burnt, and small quantities of fuel ash slag. Sherds of early Iron Age pottery, pieces of animal bone and a worked flake of Portland chert were recovered from the filling. {1}
