Summary

A ring-ditch visible as a dark circular cropmark around 15 metres in diameter on aerial photographs. This feature, about 15 metres in diameter, is interpreted as the remains of a round barrow. The ring ditch was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AI&M Project.

Full Description

A pair of ring ditches are visible as cropmarks on air photographs taken 15 April 2002. Also visible, albeit more faint, are possible linear features and an enclosure. <1>

There is some indication, albeit indistinct, that there may be an inner concentric ditch with a diameter of c 10 metres. No evidence for surviving earthworks or other associated features could be discerned.

The ring-ditch visible as a dark circular cropmark on aerial photographs and was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AI&M Project (4).

One of a group of four ring ditches visible on aerial photograph ST9502/8. Probably a Bronze Age round barrow but possibly a hut circle levelled by ploughing. Diameter 13m. The Romano-British scatter 112,029 lies immediately to the north -east. The site was field walked in 1987 and fragments of Bronze Age pottery were found with the Roman pottery. There is no visible trace of the site on the ground.
