Full Description
A lime kiln recorded as ‘old limekiln’ on the second edition (1900-2) Ordnance Survey map. The date of this kiln is not known but it is most likely to be late nineteenth century. The site was visited in 1992-93 by Peter Stanier, who could find no trace of the kiln structure. The limekiln and associated quarry are marked as 'old' (and were therefore disused) on the first edition map, the quarry is still visible as an extant earthwork on lidar imagery [2] and was digitally recorded during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
