Monument record MDO37764 - Medieval strip lynchets, Coombe Down Hill, Beaminster

A series of parallel lynchets are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs and lidar imagery on the southwest slopes of Coombe Down Hill. They are considered to be of medieval origin and were digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.

There are several groups of lynchets on the north and south slopes of Coombe Down Hill. A well-marked group facing south has terraces from 20 yards wide upwards. <3>
