Full Description
Described as 'quarry' on the map, so presumably active at the time the map was surveyed. Considered likely, therefore, to be of mid-nineteenth century date.
Two small quarries are marked on the Ordnance Survey 1st edition map to the east of Grove Stall, Chilfrome[1]. They (along with a third extractive pit to the northwest) are visible as earthworks on lidar imagery [2] and were digitally plotted during the Upper Frome and Sydling Valley AIM project.
