Please read our .

Summary

Historic field boundaries to the west of Pilsdon Barn are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in the 1940s. The curving and narrow linear nature of these boundaries suggest possible strip field boundaries, although this is not certain and a later date is possible. The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.

Full Description

Undated field boundaries to the west of Pilsdon Barn are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in the 1940s (1). The curving and narrow linear nature of these boundaries and their alignment with adjacent upstanding boundaries of probable medieval origin suggest possible strip field boundaries, although this is not certain. The boundaries are no longer visible on the latest Google Earth imagery. The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
