Full Description
The site of a post medieval extractive pit is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1948 on Lyme Hill, immediately to the south of the road to Lyme Regis (1). The proximity of the quarry to the road may indicate that it was used to extract road stone, the underlying geology of the area is sandstone. The site has since been levelled and is no longer visible on the most recent Google Earth imagery, it was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
