Full Description
A system of possible post medieval drainage ditches to the south of Whetham Farm are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in the 1940s (1). The site extends across an irregular enclosure of probable medieval origin to the north of a probable medieval moat (MDO531). The system appears to form a random pattern of zig zag and linear ditches and is likely to be drainage-related, although it may be partly natural where the land slopes away to the east. The site is no longer visible on the latest Google Earth imagery (2). The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
