Full Description
Post medieval extractive pits to the west of Providence Cottage, Broadwindsor, are visible as earthworks around 108m and 58m long on aerial photographs of the 1940s (1) and on the latest Lidar imagery (2). The site is shown as an 'old quarry' on the OS 1st Edition map (3), probably associated with a lime kiln (MDO546) also shown (3). The quarried areas are visible on an aerial photograph taken in 1971 (4) but not on the latest Google Earth imagery (5). The site of the lime kiln could not be observed. The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
