Summary

Historic banked field boundaries and scarped trackways to the northwest of Manor Farm are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1940s and 1970s. The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.

Full Description

Historic banked field boundaries and scarped trackways to the northwest of Manor Farm, Stoke Abbott, are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1940s <2> and 1970s <3>. The banks and lynchets may be associated with the documented remains of a Celtic field system but a later origin is also possible. The site remains partially visible on the latest Google Earth imagery <4>. The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.

ST 448011. Faint traces of Celtic fields occur to the South of Waddon Hill. They are much reduced. <1>
