Monument record MDO39358 - Post Medieval trackways, Barnsfield Wood, St Leonards and St Ives

An extensive series of trackways are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1945 running roughly southwest-northeast across heathland on what is now Avon Heath Country Park, Barnsfield Wood. The features are considered likely to be of post medieval or early 20th century date; they were digitally plotted during the Dorset Stour NMP.

An extensive series of trackways are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1945 and 1946 running roughly southwest-northeast across heathland on what is now Avon Heath Country Park, Barnsfield Wood (1-4). The features are considered likely to be of post medieval or early 20th century date; they were digitally plotted during the Dorset Stour NMP. Most of the site remains intact under scrub and light tree cover, the western end however has suffered from periodic ploughing since the 1970s and 1980s (5-6).
