Full Description
A square enclosure, 125 metres across and defined by what appears to be a broad ditch, is visible as cropmarks on air photographs taken July 3rd 2001. No internal or external features are apparent, and neither is any entrance or causeway - the enclosure perimeter appears continuous. <1>
A square ditched enclosure is visible as a cropmark in a field to the northeast of Gussage All Saints on a 2001 aerial photograph <2>. The enclosure measures 132m by 124m to its outside edges. It is surrounded by a broad 6m wide ditch and has no apparent entrance. The date and function of the enclosure is unknown but it may be a medieval or post medieval agricultural enclosure or animal pound. Alternatively it may be a much older feature, possible Iron Age to Roman in date, although this is less certain.
The feature was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.
