Monument record MDO40441 - Historic field boundaries, Horton

Please read our .

Summary

Perpendicular field boundaries which fit into the modern field system are visible as low earthworks on lidar imagery in fields to the west and north west of Horton village. The features extend across an extensive area (over 2km towards the River Allen). They are considered likely to be of medieval or post medieval date although an earlier origin for some of the lynchets is possible. They may be a continuation of the field system described in MDO40440 and were digitally plotted during the Dorset Stour NMP.
