Monument record MDO4046 - Garden at Ranston, Iwerne Courtney or Shroton

A landscaped park developed in the mid 18th century as a setting for a house built in 1753 for Thomas Ryves. New gardens were laid out near the house in the 1960s. The record for this monument has been enhanced with support from Wessex Water.

Landscape park laid out during the 1750s and 1760s. The gardens immediately around the house were laid out during the 1960s. A walled kitchen garden, containing glasshouses, is present north of the house. <2>

The park was laid out 1760s and 1770s for Thomas Ryves. The pleasure grounds were laid out during the mid 18th century. In 1961-63 the area around the house was redeveloped as gardens. <3>
