Summary

Ditched linear features at Purewell are visible on 1940s aerial photographs. The features are presumed to be historic drainage ditches, probably post medieval in date although an earlier origin is possible. The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description

Ditched linear features at Purewell are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).

The features are both rectilinear and curvilinear in form and are presumed to be historic drainage ditches, probably post medieval in date although an earlier origin is possible.

Current Google Earth imagery shows that the features now underlie 20th century housing development and are no longer visible.

The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
