Full Description

Ditched linear cultivation marks at Purewell are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1 and 2).

The linear features are contained with fields whose historic boundaries are present on the OS 1st Edition map. The features run broadly parallel to each other, around 5.5m apart and are fairly regular in form. They may represent medieval ridge and furrow, although a later, post medieval, origin is also possible.

The features are no longer visible on current Google Earth imagery. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
