Full Description
A modern water tank on the corner of Watcombe Road and Paisley Road, Bournemouth, is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The feature comprises a hollow square structure 7m wide with 0.6m wide outer walls and contained by a sloping grassed bank betweeen 2m and 3.6m deep. It is presumed to be a wartime water storage facility for use in the case of air raids and incendiary fires. The site was demolished and grassed over by 1957 (2).
The feature was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
