Monument record MDO40614 - Possible earthworks of medieval Leper hospital, St Margaret's Almshouses , Pamphill

Two raised scarped banks to the west of St Margaret's Almshouses are visible on 1940's and 1950's aerial photographs. The features may be earthworks associated with the medieval St Margaret's leper hospital, although they may alternatively be historic field boundaries of medieval or post medieval origin. The feature was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Two raised scarped banks to the west of St Margaret's Almshouses are visible on 1940s and 1950s aerial photographs (1).

The features comprise two sub-square enclosures or platforms; the easternmost measuring around 52m by 52m, the westernmost 52m by 69m. The features have the appearance of large building platforms or possibly garden features or agricultual enclosures. They may be earthworks associated with the medieval St Margaret's leper hospital, although they may alternatively be historic field boundaries of medieval or post medieval origin.

The site is housing and gardens on current Google Earth imagery; Netherwood Place. The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
