Summary

A ditched linear feature on the west side of Northleigh Road, Colehill, is visible on 1940s aerial photographs. The feature is marked by a dispersed line of trees on the OS 1st Edition map and is presumed to be a historic field boundary of probable post-medieval date, although an earlier origin is possible. The feature was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description

A ditched linear feature on the west side of Northleigh Road, Colehill, is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).

The feature comprises a narrow, slight curvilinear ditch that is marked by a dispersed line of trees on the OS 1st Edition map (2). It is presumed to be a historic field boundary of probable post-medieval date, although an earlier origin is possible.

The feature is still within open fields, although partly under vegetation on current Google Earth imagery and remains faintly visible. It was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
