Full Description
An area of faint cultivation marks to the east of Church Moor Copse, Colehill, is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
An irregular 108m by 106m area of parallel ridges set around 5m apart and interset by 1.6m wide ditches. The features are contained by a historic enclosure present on the OS 1st Edition map and whose boundaries may be medieval in origin. The visible features do not fully occupy the enclosure but are likely to have done at some point in time. The features are considered to be historic cultivation marks of possible medieval ridge and furrow, although a later origin is also possible.
The site is under what is now the south side of Cutler's Place on current Google Earth imagery. The features are no longer visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
