Full Description
A ditched linear feature on the south side of Long Lane, Colehill, is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The feature is narrow and rectilinear in form. It partially divides a historic enclosure present on the OS 1st Edition map whose boundaries may be predominantly medieval in origin (2). The linear feature aligns with a historic field boundary to the east on the same orientation and which forms one side of an adjacent historic enclosure. The feature is presumed to be a historic field boundary of probable post medieval date, although an earlier origin is possible.
The site is still within fields and the feature was still faintly visible on 2012 Google Earth imagery. It was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
