Full Description

A series of interlinking linear and curvilinear ditched featuresto the southwest of Higher Honeybrook Farm are visible as cropmarks on 1992 aerial photographs (1).

The features appear to form three or four irregular enclosures in the northeastern section of a historic enclosure recorded on the OS 1st Edition map and whose irregular curvilinear boundaries are potentially medieval in origin (2). The enclosures align southeast to northwest on broadly the same axis as the surrounding historic field pattern. It is possible that the features may be field boundaries and trackways associated with a field system of possible late prehistric origin; potentially Iron Age or Romano-British in date. A further group of similar features on the same broad alignment are also visible to the southeast of Higher Honeybrook Farm (MDO40881).

It is also possible, however, that the features are modern and agricultural in origin.

The site is still open fields on current Google Earth imagery but under plough in some years. The features are not visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
