Full Description

A curvilinear ditched feature to the north of Higher Honwybrook Farm is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).

The feature comprises a narrow south-north aligned curvilinear ditch which extends the length of a large irregular historic enclosure recorded on the OS 1st Edition map (2). The arrangement of dispersed trees within the enclosure as shown on the 1st Edition map suggests possible historic boundary loss by the late 19th century; the curvilinear ditch corresponds with a number of these trees (2). The feature may be a historic field boundary of possible medieval date or alternatively may be a post medieval trackway.

The site is still open fields on current Google Earth imagery and the feature is still faintly visible. It was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
