Full Description
Ditched linear features to the south of Bothenwood are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The features comprise three linear ditches which are narrow and rectilinear in form. The features are aligned with each other on a northeast to southwest axis and cross two historic enclosures recorded on the OS 1st Edition map and whose boundaries may include those of medieval origin, with some post medieval sub-division (2). The features align with these probable post medieval boundaries and are considered likely to be historic trackways, also of probable post medieval origin. Two shorter linear ditches may alternatively themselves be post medieval field boundaries.
The site is still open ground on current Google Earth imagery and the features are still faintly visible.
The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
