Full Description
A long barrow ".... near Bradford Peverel, by the road between that vill and Dorchester, is surrounded at the basis with rude stones". (Possibly the long barrow of Authy 4). <2>
A long barrow near Forty Acre Plantation is about 156ft long by 89ft at its widest point (40ft from the south east end); here it is 4ft high. Opened by Cunnington (No 11) in 1881 when human remains were found. <5>
Grass-covered long barrow, 55.0m long and 24.0m wide merges gradually into the surrounding ground at its western end. The higher eastern end is 1.3m high taken to the south. No trace of mutilations but vague, unsurveyable side ditches are visible. <6>
SY 6692 9198. Long barrow, orientated SE/NW, opened by Cunnington in 1881 who found a cairn at the south-east end containing a small piece of human jaw, two sherds and a pointed flint implement. A presumably secondary or intensive inhumation, probably crouched, was also found on the surface of the mound. <7>
No change. Revised at 1:2500 on M.S.D. <8>
A Neolithic long barrow, forming the focus of a later dispersed round barrow cemetery. <9>
The site of a Neolithic long barrow is visible as low earthworks and cropmarks on aerial photographs. <10-11>
