Full Description
An area of cultivation marks to the west of Brook Hill is visible on aerial photographs (1).
The features comprise narrow parallel ridges set around 3m apart with 1m wide ditches in between. They occupy the central area of an irregular historic enclosure, bounded on their south side by a former ditched field boundary of possible post medieval origin and potentially truncated to the north by later cultivation (1).
The features are considered likely to be those of post medieval narrow ridge and furrow. Their narrow regular form may indicate late 19th century steam ploughing.
The site is a modern garden centre on current Google Earth imagery and the features are no longer visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
