Full Description
A banked curvilinear feature to the northeast of Ashton Farm is visible on current Lidar imagery (1).
The feature is broad and curvilinear in form and extends south from the southwest corner of Ashton Wood towards a shallow extractive pit (MDO41008), also visible on current Lidar imagery but potentially overlying the linear featue - the juxtaposition of these two features is not clear.
The feature is considered likely to be a historic trackway of probable post medieval date; it appears to link with other trackways still in current use within Ashton Wood to the north. Alternatively it may be a historic field boundary or even a wood bank but these interpretations carry less confidence.
The feature was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
