Summary

A loose cluster of sub-circular ditched features to the east of Lake Farm are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs. The features may be pits of late prehistoric origin, possibly associated with Iron Age or Romano-British occupation. The features are situated within the area of a Roman military site (MDO5864). They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description

A loose cluster of sub-circular ditched features to the east of Lake Farm are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (1).

The features comprise a loose grouping of small pits around 1.5m in diameter. They are situated on the east side of the field adjacent to Lake Farm to the east and are closely associated with parallel ditched linears (MDO41038) of possible late prehistoric origin.

The features may be pits of late prehistoric origin, possibly associated with Iron Age or Romano-British occupation in the vicinity. The features are situated within the area of a Roman military site (MDO5864) and could potentially be associated with this.



The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.
