Summary

A banked linear feature at what is now Knighton Farm Golf Course is visible on 1940s aerial photographs. The feature is presumed to be a historic field boundary of possible post medieval date although an earlier origin is possible. It was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description

A banked linear feature at what is now Knighton Farm Golf Course is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).

The feature is narrow and retilinear in form and sub-divides a historic enclosure recorded on the OS 1st Edition map (2). The feature demarquates the western edge of an area of possible medieval ridge and furrow (MDO41071).

The feature is presumed to be a historic field boundary of possible post medieval date although an earlier origin is possible.

The site is part of Knighton Farm Golf Course on current Google Earth imagery and the feature is no longer visible. It was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.
